In EzTaxon-e database, temporary names are assigned to phylotypes (equivalent to species) which do not have formal taxonomic names until they are given formal taxonomic names in future. These names were given in an arbitrary way, and have no special meaning and no formal standing in nomenclature. Please see Kim et al. 2012 for more details.
